Cross a border,
and it is another world.

Collioure: the French Mediterranean town where Matisse and Derain found the colours that started Fauvism.

One day. Two countries. One Mediterranean connecting them.

Leave Barcelona behind for a few hours and come with us to Collioure, a small French town a few kilometres over the Spanish border.

Between the Mediterranean and the Pyrenees, Collioure puts beaches, art, history and architecture into a setting that looks like it came off a postcard.

Its narrow streets, small squares, coloured façades and harbour turned this town into a source of inspiration for a long list of artists. Painters like Matisse and Derain found here the colours and the light that gave rise to the movement known as Fauvism.

During the visit you will find the Royal Castle of Collioure, walk the harbour, explore the old town and take in the unhurried feel of this corner of the French Mediterranean.

There is also free time to see the town your own way — sit on a terrace, try a local speciality, or just look at the view.

Because travelling doesn't always mean going far. Sometimes you only need to cross a border to feel you are somewhere else entirely.
