Get into the kitchen.

A cooking competition for groups: teams, ingredients, professional chefs and a jury. And one question at the end.

The experience puts together two things that are genuinely Barcelona: its markets and its food.

It can open with a visit to a traditional market — depending on the option booked, the Mercat de la Boqueria — where the group meets the products, the ingredients and the flavours that Mediterranean cooking is built on.

Then comes the challenge. The group splits into teams, and each team is given the ingredients, the instructions and the target it needs to create its own tapas, or its own take on Mediterranean cooking.

Professional chefs are on hand, but the organising is yours: dividing up the tasks, making the decisions and pushing your creativity as far as it will go to get the best result.

And, of course, there is a competition. At the end a specialist jury scores the different creations on presentation, flavour, creativity and teamwork.

Which leaves one question: who becomes the MasterChef of Barcelona?

Why do it

This one is built so that nobody is a spectator. Everybody is part of the activity from the first minute, which is what makes it work for a group: food, teamwork, friendly competition, creativity, fun, Mediterranean culture and a lot of talking to the people you arrived with.

You don't need to be a good cook. Honestly, the less experience you have, the funnier the challenge gets.

Adding the market

To make it a fuller food session, the challenge can be combined with a walk through the Mercat de la Boqueria. The group discovers the market, meets local products and gets a better sense of how the ingredients and Catalan cooking fit together — before facing the kitchen.

Who it is for

Student groups, companies, families and private groups. Minimum ten people. The price depends on the number of participants and the format chosen, so tell us both and we come back with a quote.

Don't just come and taste Barcelona. Get into the kitchen, create, compete and taste the city.

Optional

Add the Gothic Quarter and the Boqueria

Market Tour + MasterChef Barcelona can be combined with a walking tour of the Gothic Quarter and/or a visit to the Mercat de la Boqueria, building a session of several hours that puts together the city, the market, the food and the competition.

What makes it ours

  • 01 Food, first — a competition built on the ingredients and dishes Mediterranean cooking runs on.
  • 02 Teamwork — the group splits into teams, and each one has to organise itself, divide the tasks and decide together.
  • 03 Friendly competition — a specialist jury scores presentation, flavour, creativity and teamwork, and picks a winner.
  • 04 Creativity — you get ingredients, instructions and a target, not a recipe to follow.
  • 05 Fun — you don't need to be a great cook, and the less experience you have, the funnier the challenge gets.
  • 06 Mediterranean culture — the market, the products and the food culture the dishes come from.
  • 07 People talking to each other — nobody watches from the side, everyone is in it from the first minute.

Before you book

No. Professional chefs are on hand for the whole challenge, and the less experience the group has, the better it usually goes.

Ten is the minimum. Above that it works for student groups, companies, families and private groups.

It depends on the number of participants and the format you choose — with or without the market, on its own or combined with a walking tour. Tell us the group size and the date and we come back with a quote.

Only if you book that option. The market part can run at the Mercat de la Boqueria, and it can be extended into a walking tour of the Gothic Quarter.
